Switch Your Face Wash

Regardless of the season, cleansing your face is the most basic skincare practice that you need to follow. And since your face is producing more oil during summer, you should adjust your cleanser accordingly.

Oily skin receives the brunt of the abuse, as pores can clog and cause acne. If your skin is greasy, during summer switch your regular face wash for a foamy cleanser that regulates sebum production.

On the other hand, if you have dry skin, you may get redness and rashes. Cleanse your face twice a day with a non-soapy face wash. The same goes for those with combination skin.

During the summer, those with regular skin can switch to a gel-based face cleanser. To refresh yourself, wash your face two times a day.

Don't Forget to Wear Sunscreen

This is something that you absolutely must remember! It's critical to protect your face, hands, legs, and any other exposed areas of your body from the sun. Excessive UV exposure damages your skin permanently, causing sunburns, wrinkles, fine lines, skin cancer, and premature ageing. Invest in a broad-spectrum UV-protective sunblock or sunscreen (at least SPF 30) and apply it to all exposed areas of your skin twice a day or whenever necessary.

Stay Hydrated

Drink plenty of water and make sure you have a water bottle with you at all times. Remember to hydrate at regular intervals throughout the day. Keeping your skin hydrated and flushing toxins from your body are vital for maintaining a glowing skin during the hot summer days.

Exfoliate your skin

Your skin works hard during summer to stay healthy and repair any irritation or sunburn. Gently exfoliate your skin to assist it in this process. Exfoliation removes dead skin cells and leaves your skin looking radiant. Use a face and body scrub on your moist body and face.

Starting with your legs, work your way up to your torso, shoulders, back, and face. To properly remove dead skin cells, use circular motions for 2 to 3 minutes. Be gentle, to make sure you don't over-exfoliate and cause irritations.

Keep Your Moisturizer Up To Date

Don’t think for a second that your skin does not require moisturizing throughout the warmer months! Your skin needs to get hydrated throughout the year. The main difference is that you won't be able to use the heavy-duty, often very greasy, moisturizers you probably used in the winter. When the weather is hot, you should use a milder moisturizer or fruity body butter.

Choose a non-greasy, lightweight moisturizer (preferably one with SPF for daytime usage) that can still lock in the much needed moisture.

Work up a sweat

The summer heat, perspiration, and humidity are keeping you off the treadmill? Please don’t give up so easily! While staying in and watching a movie while sipping iced tea seems appealing, exercise is also essential for maintaining healthy, glowing skin during the summer. Physical activity increases blood flow, which means more oxygen reaches your skin cells. As a result, any tissue damage (such as a sunburns or acne) heals quickly. Do you find going to the gym to be tedious? Zumba is a great way to spice up your workout regimen. Even better, try hiking, cycling, or volleyball with your besties. Any type of movement or activity will work wonders for your body and skin.

Always Take Cold Water Showers

Well, the age-old advice is to avoid hot showers and steam baths, as they further dehydrate your skin. Take a cold water shower instead. This will allow your skin to breathe, unclog pores and prevent the chances of acne breakouts. It is also much more refreshing. Try a body wash packed with essential oils to add some zing to your life and a splash of spice to your everyday shower routine.

Tone Your Skin

During the summer, toners are a must-have. A decent toner will keep your skin clean and oil-free. It also helps to prevent the appearance of black heads and acne. Pay special attention to your T-zone when using toner, as this is the area of your face that secretes the most oil during the summer.

Don't Overdo the Makeup

When it comes to makeup during the summer, keep it simple. When the weather is extremely hot and humid, your skin needs to breathe. If you absolutely must have the foundation, choose a tinted moisturizer with SPF and set it with some light face powder.

Don't Forget About The Eyes

The skin around your eyes is more sensitive than the rest of your face, and it needs extra attention. Always remember to use sunglasses when going outside in the sun. This will prevent wrinkles from forming around your eyes. Remember to use a hydrating eye cream both throughout the day and at night. When choosing a moisturizer, look for ingredients such as hyaluronic acid, honey, and cucumber. Every night, massage the muscles surrounding your eyes to help relax them.

Don't Shorten Your Rest Period

Your body requires rest in order to heal and maintain a healthy, glowing skin. Therefore, no matter what schedule you follow, make sure to provide time for rest. This is critical since the days are longer during the summer months, and most of us are more active for longer periods. Exposure to the sun for prolonged periods causes skin dullness and the appearance of age indicators. Getting adequate sleep slows down the ageing process, enhances skin barrier function, and makes you look younger.

Use A Face Mask To Refresh

On a hot and humid summer day, a refreshing face mask works wonders. It helps calm and soothe skin that’s affected by sunburns and irritation while also making your skin look healthy and radiant. Once a week, apply an activated charcoal facial mask to gently remove pollution particles, pollutants, dust, and dead cells from the skin, leaving it looking delightfully clean, smooth, glowing and glistening.
