Thin hair particularities

Fine hair refers to the thickness of the hair strand. Some hair strands are thin and fragile, while others are thicker and, consequently, more resilient. Hair density, on the other hand, refers to the number of hair strands on the scalp. People who suffer from hair loss and thinning hair have few overall hair strands, but thinning hair might also mean that your hair strands are becoming thinner and more fragile (typically due to harsh chemical treatments

thin hair

Thinning hair that manifests through hair fall is a condition that both men and women can face throughout their lifetime. Whether it is hereditary or the consequence of certain health conditions or hormonal imbalances, the majority of people experience periods of thinning hair. Sometimes thinning hair may also be accompanied by itching scalp and dermatitis.

Thin hair is also hard to style. The tendency is to get too greasy too fast. Moreover, hairstyles on thin hair don’t last too long, as the sweat on the scalp and the greasiness cause them to lose form. There is no need to worry, though. All hair is beautiful and, luckily, there are many home remedies you can apply to make hair thicker and fuller naturally.

Five home remedies for thicker and fuller hair

All hair problems start with the scalp. What impairs hair growth and causes thinning hair is often sebum, which prevents new hair strands from surfacing and even causes hair fall. The home remedies that I want to recommend for thicker hair contain ingredients that help regulate sebum production, but also improve blood circulation throughout the scalp, boost hair growth and help prevent hair fall. These include chili, nettle, rosemary, and lavender oil, as well as many other hair oils.

thicker hair at home

Egg and olive oil mix

One of the natural remedies that work best to help you get fuller and thicker hair with natural ingredients only is the mix of egg and olive oil. You add an egg and you whisk it with 2-3 tablespoons of olive oil. The mixture is then applied at the base of the hair and left on for 30 minutes. You can also apply the mixture to the length of the hair, but bear in mind that the egg tends to leave a specific odor when in contact with lukewarm water.

Olive oil and castor oil mix

Castor oil is universally acknowledged as the best hair growth stimulant and it is often reccomended for severe hair loss. It also works as a cleansing product and it has disinfectant properties. Castor oil is usually mixed with other oils because it is too viscous. The most appreciated formula is the one made of equal parts of olive oil and castor oil. The product is left on the hair for at least 30 minutes and then it is rinsed off. Not only will your hair shine more, but it will also boost hair growth and your hair will become thicker thanks to castor oil.

Chili, nettle, and castor oil mix

If you want a shock-inducing combination to fight hair thinning or hair loss, you must mix chili, nettle, and castor oil. Chili and nettle stimulate hair growth by boosting circulation, while castor oil also hydrates and nourishes the scalp.

For this hair growth mix to work, you must add 5 drops of chili oil, 5 drops of nettle oil, and 2 tablespoons of castor oil. Massage the remedy on the scalp and leave it for 15 minutes. I do not recommend leaving this mixture on for too long as it can irritate the skin. After 15 minutes, you may shampoo and rinse. Repeat this treatment 2 or 3 times per week.

Coconut oil, lavender, and rosemary mix

As with the previous home remedies, this next one will follow the same mixing pattern: coconut oil (2 tablespoons) to keep the scalp hydrated, lavender essential oil (several drops) to calm the scalp, and rosemary essential oil (5-10 drops) to stimulate hair growth. This is my favorite coconut oil recipe because it also adds a nice fragrance to the hair. You can leave the mixture on for 30 minutes, then shampoo and rinse.

Egg yolk, milk, and castor oil mix

The first two ingredients provide numerous nutrients for the scalp and hair strands, while castor oil stimulates blood circulation and hair growth. You can blend one or several egg yolks depending on your hair length. You must apply it evenly and let it sit for one or two hours. Shampoo and rinse. The results will be amazing.

Choose the right hair care products

To get the best results out of your homemade remedies, you must pair them with natural, harsh chemical-free hair products. If you’re washing off your homemade hair masks with a sulfate shampoo, for instance, you’re undoing all their benefits.

Luckily, many beauty products are entirely natural and they contain some of the nourishing ingredients that we’ve talked about. WOW Skin Science, for instance, has a wide collection of sulfate-free, plant-powered shampoos, conditioners and hair masks that help with hair loss, revitalize thinning hair and boost hair growth.

Thinning hair is a condition that can affect any of us at some point in our lives. Fortunately, most of the times you can prevent hair loss and stimulate hair growth by using the best home remedies and by carefully choosing the products you're using on your scalp and hair.

Explore the WOW website for more natural hair care products. From our all natural sulfate, silicone and paraben-free collection we recommend Apple Cider Vinegar Shampoo and Red Onion Black Seed Oil Shampoo. And if you would like to learn more about apple cider vinegar's benefits or onion oil's benefits check out our ultimate guide on how to use them on your hair.
