DIY Shampoo: How to Make Your Own Shampoo At Home

2 mins

Goutaman Ram

Making a DIY shampoo at home is a fun activity for the whole family. Here’s how to make your own shampoo at home - simple, safe and healthy!

Making your own shampoo at home is a fun activity for the whole family.  Here’s a quick DIY shampoo recipe that’s simple to do and healthy.

Commercial shampoos are filled with chemicals that affect hair health. This shampoo recipe is also a quick, healthy alternative from store-bought shampoos. We wouldn’t recommend using it everyday but you will definitely feel a difference! Make your own homemade shampoo using the simplest ingredients!

Ingredients Needed for a Natural Shampoo

  • Castile Soap

  • Lavender Oil or Patchouli Oil

  • Coconut Milk

Mixing Them Together

Add in about 13.5 ounces of Coconut milk to 1 ½ cup of Castile soap. After which you’re going to add about 10-20 drops of your favorite essential oil. Our personal favorites are the WOW Skin Science Lavender Essential Oil and the WOW Skin Science Patchouli Essential Oil.

Coconut milk is crammed with nutrients and full of nourishing goodness that’s just all around great for promoting hair growth & keeping the scalp healthy. The essential oils help keep your hair smooth & smelling great!

Storing & Usage

This homemade shampoo doesn’t need to be stored in a refrigerator unless you’re worried but it can be used for up to 30 days. It’s a fun little experiment and can be refreshing but we obviously wouldn’t recommend it for daily use!

This is especially true if you have sensitive scalp or particularly thin hair. You do not want to mess with this. It’s great for the kids and family but here’s a better idea for your own use!

Note:

  • Do no use directly on scalp or hair, always dilute it with something.

  • Not color safe

  • Your hair may not react well with it

This natural shampoo recipe is really fun but if you're looking for shampoos to use in the long term? You can give these shampoos a try!
